About the position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking an experienced UX/Product Designer to enhance user experiences across various products and platforms. This role involves collaboration with product management, stakeholders, and engineering teams to create scalable design solutions, ensuring a high-quality user experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a deep understanding of user requirements, and the ability to drive impactful design initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product management, stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure a clear understanding of the expected user experience.
  • Explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical staff at all levels in a compelling manner.
  • Partner with other UX designers, UX research, strategists, product managers, product owners, and software engineers to understand user and business needs.
  • Conceptualize innovative solutions and create user experience specifications, workflows, and mockups.
  • Deliver great experiences across products/platforms in a collaborative, agile environment.
  • Manage team initiatives, set priorities, and manage scoping for UX activities.
  • Gather feedback on work from managers, business partners, engineering, and peer design teams.
  • Advocate for users while providing strategic leadership in user experience.
  • Mentor and guide team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Usability, Human Factors, Industrial Design, Psychology, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience.
  • At least four years of experience in human-computer interaction, interaction design, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and design systems.
  • Experience with wireframing/prototyping tools such as Figma, Axure, and Adobe XD.
  • End-to-end understanding of user-centered design, usability, accessibility, and SEO best practices.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation.
