About the position

The UVSO Program Adjunct position at Northwest Florida State College is a part-time role designed for qualified individuals to provide instruction in aviation-related courses. This position is grant-funded and will continue through 2030, offering an opportunity to engage with students in a dynamic educational environment. As an adjunct instructor, you will be responsible for delivering classroom and laboratory instruction in accordance with the FAA curriculum, ensuring that all educational standards and requirements are met. You will be expected to conduct each class according to the approved syllabus, utilizing the designated textbooks and instructional materials. Preparation and punctuality are essential, as is adherence to college policies regarding the use of the Learning Management System (LMS). In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will maintain course grades in the LMS, submit attendance confirmations, and engage with students to support their learning. This includes answering questions, providing timely feedback, and referring students to additional support services when necessary. You will also be involved in curriculum development and must complete annual mandatory compliance training. The role requires a commitment to treating students and colleagues with respect and understanding, fostering an inclusive learning environment. This position is part of a pool of applicants, meaning that hiring managers will review applications as needed. Responsibilities

  • Providing classroom/laboratory instruction in accordance with the FAA curriculum.
  • Fulfill contractual obligations during the term.
  • Conduct each class according to the approved syllabus and FAA curriculum.
  • Utilize the approved textbook and/or other instructional materials as approved.
  • Be fully prepared and on time.
  • Utilize the LMS following college policies and procedures.
  • Submit attendance confirmation per college policies and procedures.
  • Maintain course grades in the LMS and submit grades at the applicable times.
  • Support students by engaging them in class, answering questions in a timely manner, and referring them for additional support when necessary.
  • Be familiar with and abide by college policies.
  • Treat students and colleagues with respect and understanding of differences.
  • Assist in development of curriculum as appropriate.
  • Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in aviation, avionics, aerospace, aeronautics or closely related field and current pilot license or similar license OR Master's with at least 18 graduate hours in a combination of qualifying field and current pilot license or similar license OR Bachelor's in qualifying field and a professional pilot license and two years' in-field experience.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated evidence of professional growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.
  • Proficiency with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software, such as Camtasia or Kaltura, and familiarity with web-conferencing software to facilitate synchronous online student support.
  • Experience in student engagement techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Experience with UAS operations, with Agricultural experience preferred.

Benefits

  • Rate of Pay: $2,031-$2,214 per class (Based on level of degree).
  • Rate of pay for online courses varies $25.00-$150.00 per hour.
