About the position

The UT GEAR UP Mindset College Ready Site Coordinator is responsible for providing academic enrichment and support to GEAR UP cohort students, focusing on their college readiness and graduation. This role involves mentoring, tutoring, and advising students, as well as collaborating with school teams to develop tailored service plans. The coordinator will also organize events to engage students and families in the college application process and maintain comprehensive records of student progress and program activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic enrichment, informational, and motivational opportunities for GEAR UP cohort students.
  • Monitor student grades, attendance, and transcripts to promote on-time graduation.
  • Assess academic and personal needs of GEAR UP students through evaluations and interviews.
  • Collaborate with school teams to develop and implement service plans for students.
  • Maintain student information and progress records using a caseload management approach.
  • Organize group events such as assemblies and family nights to encourage college planning.
  • Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to students and families.
  • Develop comprehensive college timelines for each student, including application deadlines.
  • Assist students in completing admissions and financial aid applications.
  • Maintain documentation files of all grant activities and correspondence related to the GEAR UP program.
  • Establish productive relationships with school principals, counselors, and teachers.
  • Assist in the efforts of other UT GEAR UP Site Coordinators within the district.
  • Identify and collect key progress and outcome data for program evaluation.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience in educational counseling or guidance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and community organizations.
  • Knowledge of college admissions processes and financial aid.
  • Experience in program management and data tracking.
