About The Position

The purpose of the role is to produce and deliver Research with differentiated market insights and actionable ideas to Barclays Clients. This involves the analysis of market, sector, corporate and/or economic data to help develop investment theses for your coverage universe to produce best in class Research. Research may range from individual company or sector notes, through to long dated thematic reports. The role also includes the presentation of Research views to Barclays Clients through direct, face to face and virtual interactions, Research hosted events and written communications. Engagement with Markets, Client Strategy and other clients is crucial to raise awareness of your Research both to Clients and internally. Prioritizing interaction with the most relevant and valuable Clients for your Research is key. Provision of insights and Research views to internal Clients to help them navigate financial markets and risks, and collaboration with the Supervisory Analyst, Compliance and other stakeholders to ensure Research is produced and delivered to Clients and internal stakeholders in a compliant manner are also core functions. As an Assistant Vice President, you will advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. You will collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions, lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. You will set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraise performance relative to objectives and determine reward outcomes. You will engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc.) to solve problems creatively and effectively. You will communicate complex information, which could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience. You will influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Join Barclays as a US Investment Grade Strategy AVP, where you will contribute to the US Credit Alpha publication, highlight views across investment grade markets on a weekly basis and identify/research relevant topics and trends from both a macroeconomic and credit perspective. You will also be working with large data sets and evaluating data to substantiate market views or discover salient and market-moving drivers, collaborate across teams, work closely with the fundamental Analyst team, as well as Marketing, Trading, and Syndicate. Additionally, you will engage with clients to discuss views and trends in the market and publish research views which provide broad exposure and wide range of responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Extensive background in financial modeling and data assessment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Solid foundation in macro and micro economic research and credit market evaluation
  • Proficiency in coding, e.g., Python, etc
  • Investment Grade market knowledge
  • Demonstrate the Barclays Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to investment banking or similar fast-paced financial environments
  • Confirmed ability to engage with senior leadership and stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills both in verbal and written forms
