The Unit Support Aide at Anna Jaques Hospital is a full-time position focused on providing essential support in patient transport and assisting clinical staff. Responsibilities
- Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchair, stretcher and patient bed.
- Assists clinical staff with the transferring of patients to/from beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs safely.
- Collects specimens, orders, requisitions and equipment and delivers items to appropriate destinations.
- Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions immediately to the appropriate person.
- Monitors surrounding environment for unsafe situations and equipment and reports issues to the appropriate person.
- Prioritizes duties by demonstrating self-motivation, flexibility, and cooperation with changes in work volume, emergencies and staffing needs.
- Works closely with the clinical staff to assure positive patient outcomes.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
- Retrieves equipment, delivers and maintains stretchers, wheelchairs, infusion pumps and precaution carts.
- Delivers medications from the pharmacy as routinely scheduled.
- Performs the duties of a storeroom clerk as needed: answering phones, delivering supplies, processing incoming stock and coverage for after business hours to include holidays.
