About the position
The position is located at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME, within the Cardiac Unit - P6. The role is part-time eligible, requiring 24 hours of work per week, with a schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The primary responsibilities include performing secretarial duties that require knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures. This includes scheduling appointments, billing patients, and managing medical charts and reports.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates assigned unit activities.
- Manages patient records (e.g. assembles patient records, files patient information, etc.).
- Processes physician orders (e.g. transcribes physician's orders, flags charts appropriately, enters orders into computer).
- Coordinates the safe transport of patients and other items as directed.
- Accepts responsibility for further developing professional learning needs.
- Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
- May perform other duties upon request.
Requirements
- Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED).
- No previous experience required.
- Word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, database experience and other computer related skills.
