About The Position
Enhances public safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia and Department of Corrections (DOC) staff and inmates, by meeting re-entry objectives and by providing effective security, programming, custody, and control of adult inmates in a major correctional facility.
Requirements
- Extensive working knowledge of prison operations, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver reports and presentations to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to make effective operational decisions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience effectively communicating with all levels of institutional staff, inmates, and inmate family members.
- Working knowledge of security and treatment within an adult correctional setting.
- Working knowledge of evidence-based research and practices for prison operations.
- Working knowledge of reentry programs and services available to inmates.
- Experience supervising correctional staff.
