About the position
The Unit Manager Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care under the direction of attending physicians. The RN Supervisor will interact effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members while adhering to professional nursing standards.
Responsibilities
- Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of preventative therapeutic and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned residents.
- Perform independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Admit and assess residents, including initial care planning.
- Administer assessments, treatments, medications, and diets accurately, observing patient responses.
- Maintain accurate narcotic count and sign in log book.
- Complete all required resident charting every shift.
- Make rounds on the unit every shift to assess orderliness, infection control, and resident care.
- Observe and document changes in residents' conditions and report to the attending physician and other departments.
- Participate in discharge planning with physicians and other departments according to residents' needs.
- Direct, supervise, and assist CNAs and other nursing staff in providing bedside care.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team in coordinating resident care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated experience within a skilled nursing facility.
