About the position

The Unit Manager/Nurse Supervisor at Waverly Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is responsible for overseeing the nursing care and services provided during their shift. This role includes ensuring the accurate administration of medications, supervising nursing staff, and maintaining the health and safety of residents. The Unit Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a caring environment that respects residents' rights and dignity while adhering to nursing policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality nursing care to Residents/residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity and freedom of choice.
  • Provides supervision to C.N.A's and all subordinate staff which includes checking their work to ascertain that assignments have been completed.
  • Supervises direct care of residents and nursing personnel on his/her shift.
  • Gives and receives shift reports.
  • Rounds the unit multiple times during the shift to assure proper care is rendered in a safe and clean environment.
  • Keeps physicians and families aware of changes in resident's condition.
  • Assists in developing comprehensive care plans.
  • Completes medical records documenting care provided and other information in accordance with nursing policies while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Assures that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained when providing care.
  • Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to appropriate persons.
  • Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents/residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
  • Answers and responds to call lights promptly and courteously.
  • Assists with new admissions, re-admissions and assists with the transfer of Residents to different rooms within the facility.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Residents/residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current State License as a RN or LPN.
  • C.P.R. Certified.

Nice-to-haves
