About the position

The position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at maintaining a professional image and providing excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers. The role requires understanding the normal signs of growth and development in the aging patient population and performing receptionist duties in a customer-oriented manner. The individual will be responsible for organizing patient records, maintaining inventory of supplies, and ensuring the appropriate storage and safety of medications. Additionally, the role includes fostering a caring environment and demonstrating continued professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  • Recognize the normal signs of growth and development of aging patients and understand the requirements of assessment, treatment, and care for specific age groups.
  • Perform receptionist duties in a customer and patient-oriented manner.
  • Organize patient records, including assembly of charts, physician orders, and admission and discharge duties.
  • Demonstrate continued professional growth for oneself and the department.
  • Understand and recognize appropriate storage and safety of medications such as large volume IVs, alcohol, saline, and medications in prepackaged kits.
  • Utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff.
  • Maintain and organize inventory of supplies.
  • Identify and communicate appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Recognize potential or real problems as they arise, present workable solutions, and participate in their implementation as a contributing member of the healthcare team.
  • Foster an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for all patients, families, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate competency in assigned access control applications, emergency management, environment, safety, infection control/precautions, communication, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year secretarial experience
  • High school diploma preferred or GED from an accredited school.
