About the position

A ward secretary is a non-licensed person who performs clerical, receptionist, and related duties on a nursing division/unit under the direction of a registered nurse and ED physicians. Performs duties which assist with the performance of patient care. Ensures that Emergency Center charges are accurately and appropriately applied to the patient account in an effort to realize maximum reimbursement and ensure compliance with billing procedures and regulations. To accurately scan the appropriate/necessary paperwork into the Meditech system to ensure that the information is available for the continuity of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical and receptionist duties in a nursing division/unit.
  • Assist with the performance of patient care under the direction of registered nurses and ED physicians.
  • Ensure accurate application of Emergency Center charges to patient accounts.
  • Maintain compliance with billing procedures and regulations.
  • Scan necessary paperwork into the Meditech system for continuity of patient care.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Successful completion of Ward Secretary orientation.
  • CIDE training within 3 months of hire.
  • Computer literacy to complete required tasks.
