The Unhoused Outreach Ambassador is responsible for establishing and building relationships with local social service agencies and directing the unhoused and others in need of services to agencies and programs that can provide needed resources such as crisis intervention. This role involves actively identifying individuals in need, introducing them to established programs, and working towards mutual respect to reduce the public nuisance perception of homelessness. The ambassador will also develop relationships with city, county, and state agencies, patrol the district on foot or bike to locate and reach out to those in need, observe and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity, provide hospitality to pedestrians and visitors, create detailed incident reports, and provide accurate descriptions to law enforcement when needed. Maintaining a helpful, positive, and professional environment in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and Block by Block standards is essential.
