About The Position

The Undergraduate Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and be responsible for assisting research projects related to foamed-frac fluid used in hydraulic fracturing for water sensitive shale formations.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.8 for undergraduate students.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
  • Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.
  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.
  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
  • Promptly complete all required training.
  • Submit time sheet biweekly.
  • All positions are security-sensitive. Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering program.
  • Prior research experience will be highly welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Research and collect data through complex techniques and procedures.
  • Perform experiments, simulation, and data analysis.
  • Assist with data management and perform basic analyses.
  • Required to meet the deadlines for science publications.
  • Carry out general laboratory maintenance.
  • Ability to work long hours as necessitated by the experiments.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Participation in regional-level scientific conferences and publication/s in peer-review journals upon successful completion of assigned project/s.
