About the position

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients of all ages, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. This role involves conducting various types of scans such as abdominal, retroperitoneal, OB/GYN, and small part scans, as well as ultrasound-guided procedures like cyst aspirations. The technologist must accurately recognize normal and abnormal images to assist in the evaluation and treatment by attending physicians under the direction of a Radiologist. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including dayshift, evening shift, night, and weekend call as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients of all ages.
  • Conduct abdominal, retroperitoneal, OB/GYN, and small part scans.
  • Execute ultrasound-guided procedures such as cyst aspirations.
  • Recognize and differentiate between normal and abnormal images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Assist in the evaluation and treatment of patients under the direction of a Radiologist.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited two-year allied health program or two years of college with emphasis on biological sciences.
  • Completion of a formal medical Sonography training program (minimum one year) or equivalent experience.
  • RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) certification via ARDMS required.
  • RVT/VT (Registered Vascular Technologist/Vascular Technology) certification within 180 days of employment via ARDMS or RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist) via CCI required.
  • If employment involves Breast Ultrasound, Breast Certification (BR) via ARDMS required within 180 days of employment.
  • If employment involves OB Clinic rotation, OB Certification (OB/GYN) via ARDMS required within 180 days of employment.
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to answer patient's questions and help them understand the procedure.
  • Ability to accurately operate and maintain imaging equipment.
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience in Ultrasound.
