As a UCC Elevator Inspector Trainee, you will be supporting the safe operation of elevators and other lifting devices by learning inspection methods and applying safety standards.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in the construction, inspection, installation, maintenance, repair, or design of elevators, passenger ropeways, or other lifting devices, electronic equipment, electrical systems, heavy machinery, motors, engines, drives or hydraulic systems.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, or Philadelphia County by date of hire.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Elevator Inspector within the probationary period.
  • A valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a Passenger Ropeway Inspector within the probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in checking elevators and lifting devices to confirm proper design, safe load capacity, and working safety features
  • Observe and examine machinery, controls, hoistways, wiring, hydraulics, and safety devices to verify compliance with standards
  • Help inspect new equipment or major repairs to ensure alignment with approved plans
  • Assess conditions to help determine whether unsafe equipment may continue operating or must be taken out of service
  • Support investigations of elevator accidents and unresolved issues identified by authorized inspectors
  • Prepare draft inspection and investigation reports for review by senior inspectors
