About the position

The Tutor I position at Coconino Community College involves providing free tutorial services to a diverse student population. The role focuses on helping students become independent learners and achieve their academic goals through individual and group tutoring sessions. Tutors will work with students across various subjects and are expected to participate in mandatory training and orientation sessions throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities

• Provides one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions for students in person and online.
• Recognizes primary role to help students become more confident, successful, and self-directed learners.
• Informally assesses students' learning needs and assists them in locating and using various resources.
• Participates in mandatory tutor orientation/trainings throughout the academic year.
• Creates a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students' diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences.

Requirements

• Documented A or B in the content area to be tutored or high school diploma and 20-30 hours of college credit.
• Ability to provide tutoring and learning assistance in at least one subject that is in demand.
• Recommendation from someone who can speak to your knowledge and ability to tutor specific content.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
• Experience working with a diverse population.
• Ability to use various computer database applications.
• Knowledge of college study skills.
