About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Part Time Class B Truck Driver in Shreveport, LA — offering weekly pay and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers a pay of $648 or more per week, with an hourly rate of $27.40 per hour and a health stipend of $5.50 per hour. The expected hours per week are 20-25. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday - Saturday with a start time between 4:00 AM and 8:00 PM. This role requires straight truck experience. Drivers will deliver SOLO within a 25-mile radius from Shreveport, operating 26' Straight Trucks equipped with Rolling Carts & Lift Gates. The freight is touch freight, specifically US Mail. Trucks are 36 months or newer and include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance. Ryder provides uniforms, cell phone, and boot allowance. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions. A 401(k) rollover is available with company match after 1 year, and 12 weeks of paid maternity leave is offered subject to eligibility. Employee discounts on various items are also available. Additional screening by the United States Postal Service (USPS) includes a Federal Level 2 background screen and requires Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959 (unless exempt).

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A or Class B verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • A secondary background screen - Federal Level 2 conducted by the USPS to allow access to premises and/or to provide contractual services
  • Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless there is a legal exemption

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
