Truck Body Welder- 2nd shift

About the position

A Welder is responsible for mid-level assembly, securing and welding metal parts using a pulse MIG and/or TIG welder, operating overhead hoists or cranes, using hand tools appropriate for the job. They will also read and interpret blueprints of a complex nature, fabricating and welding metal components according to specifications and with little supervision. The Welder will also apply appropriate welding techniques to produce quality welds.

Responsibilities

• Follow Blueprints to create quality products.
• Troubleshoot issues that arise on the shop floor and confer with supervisors and production personnel to resolve problems, keeping projects moving forward for the best outcome.
• Prepare products to be welded by reading blueprints and utilizing fixturing.
• Ensure all equipment is in good repair, properly set up, and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use, including mandatory PPE.
• Responsible for identifying and moving all finished products to the proper location within the shop using a forklift, if trained.
• Operate manual wire feed welders and automatic welders while utilizing appropriate welding wire, heat, arc, speed, depth, and weld bead size.
• Proficient welds in all positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead, and down.
• Perform inspections as required by standards.

Requirements

• MIG and/or TIG welding experience required.
• Pulse welding experience preferred.
• Prior fabrication background preferred.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs without assistance from various positions.
• Ability to use cranes and hoists.
• Ability to safely use hand, air, pneumatic, and power tools, and machinery.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
