About the position

The Vermont State Police is seeking candidates for the position of Trooper - Probationary, which involves specialized law enforcement work across various roles within the agency. This position requires a high level of initiative, judgment, and discretion, with responsibilities that may include temporary assignments as patrol commander, special investigator, or training instructor. Responsibilities

• Perform law enforcement duties in various capacities as assigned.
• Exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion in accordance with regulations and policies.
• Temporarily assume roles such as patrol commander or special investigator as needed.
• Supervise lower-level Troopers periodically under the direction of higher-level officers.
• Maintain care and maintenance of assigned vehicles.

Requirements

• Must be at least 20 years old to apply.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid motor vehicle license.
• Must pass physical fitness testing and meet minimum fitness standards.
• Must have satisfactory vision and hearing capabilities.
• Must not have been convicted of any felonies.

Nice-to-haves

• Military service is not required but honorable discharge is preferred.
