About the position

The Tree Climber/Bucket Truck Operator position at Lumberjacks Tree Service is a full-time role focused on tree maintenance, pruning, and removals for both residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, and a passion for outdoor work. This skilled position requires adherence to safety guidelines and the use of various equipment, including ropes, truck-mounted lifts, and chainsaws, while working both on the ground and in the tree canopy.

Responsibilities

  • Climb trees using approved climbing equipment according to industry standards.
  • Trim, prune, and shape trees and shrubs according to industry standards.
  • Perform static and dynamic cabling, bracing, bolting, and guying of trees and branches.
  • Hoist tools and equipment, lower branches with ropes, and use blocks and tackles.
  • Tie tree industry knots and inspect all personal climbing and safety equipment.
  • Participate in all job site safety briefings and utilize attention to detail to ensure safety standards.
  • Utilize tree and plant identification skills and assist in ground person position operations when needed.
  • Assess climb and tree risk by understanding tree growth dynamics and electrical hazards.
  • Drive, back, dump, and park vehicles, trailers, and other equipment daily.
  • Maintain and organize assigned company equipment and perform general maintenance on equipment.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license and available transportation, with the ability to obtain a CDL.
  • Ideally, 2+ years of climbing experience.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform strenuous labor in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to tie tree industry knots and demonstrate general tree-related skills during the interview process.
  • Punctuality and consistent reporting to work and job site locations.
  • Understanding and adherence to all safety rules and company safety policies.
  • Knowledge of proper climbing and rigging techniques and procedures.
