About the position

The Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse (NICU RN) is responsible for providing specialized care to premature and critically ill newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit. This role involves connecting newborns to necessary medical technology, administering intravenous feeding, and working closely with physicians to ensure the health and well-being of the infants. Additionally, the NICU RN plays a crucial role in educating new mothers about their baby's condition and breastfeeding practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in the NICU.
  • Connect newborns to medical technology for breathing and feeding support.
  • Administer intravenous feeding to newborns to promote weight gain.
  • Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement care plans for infants.
  • Educate new mothers about their baby's condition and breastfeeding techniques.
  • Answer questions and provide support to families regarding their newborn's health.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with families and medical staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) is a plus.
  • Previous travel nursing experience is beneficial.
