About The Position

HonorHealth is seeking a full-time Transporter for their Phoenix locations (Deer Valley or John C. Lincoln). This role involves transporting patients and materials throughout hospital areas, maintaining transport equipment, and ensuring customer service and quality standards are met. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, proper body mechanics, and accurate documentation. Transporters will utilize Electronic Medical Record systems and may be involved in dispatch duties. HonorHealth is a large nonprofit healthcare system in Arizona with a culture of warmth and kindness, dedicated to caring for the health and well-being of the greater Phoenix area.

Requirements

  • Current and Active BLS Certification Required
  • High school Coursework Required
  • 6 months work experience in healthcare and customer service Preferred
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) - Certification
  • Basic Life Support BLS training course C Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred
  • 6 months work experience in healthcare and customer service Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients and materials throughout all hospital areas.
  • Maintains transport equipment and supplies.
  • Complies with regulations, safety and patient care protocols.
  • Ensures that all customer service standards and quality standards are met for communication with patients, staff and public.
  • Transports patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed or chair and non-patient moves to and from designated areas or departments.
  • Complies with all safety protocols when transporting patients and materials.
  • Uses proper body mechanics.
  • Ensures patient safety when transferring a patient to and from multiple surfaces and/or devices.
  • Operates company issued mobile devices.
  • May include dispatch role.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and completes accurate handoff with clinical staff.
  • Communicates appropriately with patient and other members of care team.
  • Introduces him or herself, verifies patient identity and informs the patient of their destination.
  • Must follow HonorHealth Standards of Conduct and demonstrate ICARE values at all times.
  • Complies with established PPE guidelines and proper handling of patient.
  • Maintains wheelchairs and stretchers appropriately.
  • Sanitizes equipment following established protocols.
  • Immediately reports any equipment malfunctions and removes the items from service.
  • Utilizes Electronic Medical Record system(s) consistently for safe and efficient transport of patients.
