About the position

The Transportation Project Manager will play a pivotal role in the Michigan Transportation group, focusing on roadway, highway, and civil site design. This position involves leading project teams, managing client relationships, and overseeing the design and planning of various infrastructure projects. The role requires collaboration with multiple disciplines to ensure comprehensive project delivery and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local management to strategize and implement project pursuits and delivery efforts.
  • Devise and implement strategies for capturing project opportunities, including teaming arrangements and strategic positioning.
  • Build and nurture relationships with both external and internal clients.
  • Supervise and guide staff to facilitate smooth design and plan development processes.
  • Engage in the design phases of roadways, highways, and interstates, overseeing projects from preliminary to final design stages.
  • Create plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with reviewers and other disciplines to ensure the accuracy and quality of work.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for project pursuits.
  • Provide direct support to Project Managers and Design Leaders.
  • Effectively manage and organize project documentation.
  • Collaborate within a dynamic team to fulfill project requirements and deliver a high-quality design to the client.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or higher is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience designing and delivering Michigan transportation (MDOT) projects.
  • Michigan PE required.
  • Experience as project manager or lead roadway engineer on MDOT projects.
  • Experience working with clients such as State and County Departments of Transportation and municipal.
  • Proficient at using MicroStation and Open Roads Designer.
