About the position

The Transportation Planner II position at Pasco County involves advanced technical and administrative responsibilities in transportation planning and review. The role focuses on the maintenance and coordination of transportation plans, studies, and programs, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations. The planner will conduct traffic impact studies, review development projects, and coordinate with various departments to align with multimodal transportation goals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical and administrative review of traffic impact studies.
  • Prepare traffic impact studies and develop transportation-related conditions of approval for land development projects.
  • Review transportation impact/mobility fee proposals and studies.
  • Evaluate substandard roadway and access management studies.
  • Coordinate development projects for consistency with the County's transportation plans and policies.
  • Implement transportation-related requirements from County ordinances and resolutions.
  • Perform related work as required.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a related discipline or Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of two years of transportation planning experience.
  • Experience in writing conditions of approval related to transportation issues for proposed developments.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques in traffic impact studies.
  • Familiarity with trip generation, trip distribution, and assignment techniques.
  • Experience with level of service (LOS) and signal timing determination software such as Highway Capacity Software (HCS) and SYNCHRO.
  • Knowledge of vehicular access management concepts and State of Florida requirements for land development proposals.
  • Skilled in using computer database and spreadsheet programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in coordinating with internal and external departments for transportation planning.
  • Familiarity with the Comprehensive Plan Goals, Objectives, and Policies (GOP).
