About the position

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated Transportation Engineer looking for career advancement, in our Houston, Katy, or Cedar Park, TX offices. Baxter & Woodman has an established transportation engineering business in the Midwest and is looking to grow this business in our Houston office. This position will work with staff in our Houston TX, office to develop and grow transportation work with new and existing municipal and County clients. This position will supervise and oversee transportation projects assigned to the Texas Transportation Group, with support from our Midwest transportation team. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman's diverse disciplines and offices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with leadership to develop transportation work for new and existing municipal clients.
  • Manage local and Federal Aid projects for a variety of clients, including Local Agencies, DOT, and Counties.
  • Lead a variety of project types and study types, including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Business Development, including proposal and contract preparation, teaming arrangements, and project interviews.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Mentor staff and assist with training opportunities.
  • Recognize staffing needs and assist with hiring.
  • Develop design and quality control standards.
  • Link management and staff through active communication.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or another engineering degree with relevant experience.
  • Licensed TX Professional Engineer.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience; 2+ years of relevant project management work experience.
  • Experience working with municipalities and county staff.
  • Experience with roadway and infrastructure design using TXDOT and County design criteria.
  • Ability to attend client meetings and marketing functions, occasionally at night.
  • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman's service area in TX (own transportation).
  • Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong written, verbal, computer, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated requiring minimal oversight.
  • Work within a Team-first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals.

  • Microstation/Geopak understanding preferred.
