About The Position

Yamhill County is seeking an experienced and dynamic Transit Manager to lead Yamhill County Transit (YCT) into its next phase. This role is crucial for shaping a modern, connected, and community-focused transit system. The Transit Manager will be responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and accessible service across the county, overseeing the contracted transit provider, improving the rider experience, developing mobility options, and championing innovative projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in public administration, business administration, or a related field
  • Eight (8) years of experience in public transportation
  • A minimum of three (3) years of supervisor experience
  • Prior training and experience must include supervision and management responsibility
  • Secure and maintain a driver’s license valid in the state of Oregon, or an acceptable alternative means of transportation
  • May be required to drive a County vehicle
  • Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle on County business are required to carry a valid driver’s license and liability insurance minimums as outlined in ORS 806.070
  • Employment offer is contingent on successful completion of a background check

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and long-range visioning for a growing transit system
  • Annual budgeting and oversight of multiple state and federal grant programs
  • Transit service delivery, fleet lifecycle oversight, and performance monitoring
  • Partnerships with local governments, regional agencies, and community groups
  • Marketing, communications, and customer information systems including website, social media, and onboard information systems
  • Staff leadership, mentorship, and team development
  • Coordination with the Yamhill County Transit Advisory Committee and representation at regional and statewide transportation forums
  • Oversight of major projects, procurements, service contracts, and compliance with federal and state transit regulations
