About the position

As an EMT Coordinator with the Central Region Patient Logistics Center, you will perform all transfer center functions, including centralized patient placement, in a timely, customer-centered professional manner. This role involves transport coordination specific to the transfer of patients and discharges from HCA facilities, following specific protocols and utilizing established resources to safely place patients at facilities. You will work collaboratively with team members to ensure appropriate patient admission and maintain a high degree of awareness of hospitals' medical staff, services, and special programs. Exceptional customer relationship behaviors are essential, as you will communicate with various customer groups, including physicians and their office staffs. The position requires maintaining professionalism and customer-centric communication, especially with challenging callers. You will also coordinate the transfer of emergent, urgent, and elective patients to final destination facilities, ensuring timely bed placement and accurate patient information to assist with the development of an initial plan of care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all transfer center functions, including centralized patient placement.
  • Coordinate transport of patients and discharges from HCA facilities.
  • Follow specific protocols and utilize established resources for patient placement.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure appropriate patient admission.
  • Maintain knowledge of hospitals' medical staff, services, and special programs.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer relationship behaviors in communication.
  • Coordinate transfer of emergent, urgent, and elective patients.
  • Ensure timely bed placement and appropriate bed assignment.
  • Maintain accurate data collection in patient records and workflow systems.
  • Proficiently navigate and document in technology platforms and systems.

Requirements

  • Proficient in EMTALA.
  • Knowledge of state/federal regulatory requirements for ambulance transports.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving skills to determine satisfactory courses of action.
  • Knowledge of basic hospital services and clinical operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and relevant databases.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees and external parties.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical or hospital experience.
  • Dispatch experience.
  • Call Center/Transfer Center experience.
  • EMT Certificate.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or equivalent certifications.
