About the position

The Traffic Project Manager/Lead Traffic Engineer/ITS will play a pivotal role in the Southeast Team at Jacobs, focusing on the development of traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design plans. This position involves managing traffic operations, signal timing, and conducting traffic studies, while also overseeing project budgets, schedules, and staff. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure innovative solutions are implemented effectively to meet future transportation demands.

Responsibilities

  • Develop traffic and ITS design plans and traffic operations strategies.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and staff, including sub-consultants.
  • Prepare cost estimates and final bid packages for projects.
  • Coordinate project milestones and workload with other project managers and group leads.
  • Assist in business development and proposal efforts to win new work.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with clients to understand their needs and manage expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight, performing quality reviews of work.
  • Train, direct, and mentor junior staff on the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License, or ability to obtain one in Alabama within six months.
  • Substantial experience leading the development of design plans and signal timings for traffic operations projects in Alabama.
  • Previous project management and leadership experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for site visits.
  • Resourceful and self-directed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Design experience with departments of transportation, planning, transit, and/or municipal agencies.
  • Knowledge and experience using CADD/MicroStation/ORD, Synchro/SimTraffic.
