About The Position

This role is responsible for the scheduling of daily laboratory staff to ensure company goals are met. The TPL Manager will manage staff to ensure all tissue is processed within specifications and quality is maintained, and that all tasks for efficient operation of the laboratory are performed. This includes managing, scheduling, and performing training of technicians to achieve proficiency, as well as managing time and attendance for TPL staff. Performance evaluations of team leaders, trainers, and technicians will be conducted through direct observation to ensure consistency and tissue quality, with recommendations for promotions and raises. The role involves the implementation of new and revised documents and procedures, and collaboration with trainers and team leaders to create and implement new procedures. Assistance will be provided in recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination of TPL staff. Responsibilities also include reviewing various laboratory records to assure compliance, assisting with investigations related to processing non-conformances, environmental actions, and complaints, coordinating MRB meetings, verifying and tracking non-conformances, coordinating staff meetings, and assisting with budget activities related to TPL. The TPL Manager may also perform duties of technicians as needed and undertake other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, 5 years previous supervisory experience, 3 years tissue processing/medical device/pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing experience, or suitable combination of the above.

  • Must be able to counsel and review employees as needed.
  • Must communicate any problems or potential problems to the lab manager and/or director.
  • Must interface well with other departments.
  • Must produce accurate written records.

Responsibilities

  • Perform time management of TPL staff including timesheets, PTO requests, and call pay to ensure accuracy and prompt action.
  • Evaluate performance of team leaders, trainers, and technicians through direct observation to ensure consistency and tissue quality.
  • Recommend promotions and raises of team leaders, trainers, and technicians.
  • Implementation of new and revised documents and procedures.
  • Work with trainers and team leaders to create and implement new procedures for improvement of current processes or addition of new ones.
  • Assist in the recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination of TPL staff.
  • Review tissue records, equipment monitoring records, autoclave log, cryopreservation cycles, and antibiotic intermediate documentation to assure lab compliance.
  • Assist with investigations related to processing non-conformances, environmental actions, and complaints. Assist with complaint sample reviews as needed.
  • Coordinate MRB meetings as needed.
  • Assist with non-conformance verifications and tracking.
  • Assist with coordinating staff meetings.
  • Assist with budget activities as it relates to TPL.
  • Perform duties of technicians as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
