About The Position

The Tool Room/Parts Attendant possesses a high degree of expertise in the daily routine of issuing tools and PREX parts, requisitioning, inventory control, storing, shelf life, and cataloging of required tools and material in support of aircraft operations. This role interprets and complies with all DOD and Company directives/policies. The attendant applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to solve technical problems and provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to employees in the Tool Room and Parts classification and to others throughout the aviation team as required. This position may be required to perform Leadman duties when designated and authorized. The Tool Room/Parts Attendant is directly accountable to the Logistics Manager with oversight from Work Center Leads.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience specializing in a DOD aviation/material control environment or equivalent civilian experience.
  • Familiarity with DOD procedures, regulations, and directives concerning logistics support and supply systems, specifically the tool control program as it applies to organizational and intermediate level maintenance.
  • Successfully completed approved course or training as required by Company, State/Local Govt, DOD, regulation/Instruction.
  • Personnel shall be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned, i.e., “O” or “I” level.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen and completed high school or equivalent.
  • Experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be customer service oriented and possess the ability to communicate professionally, courteously, and respectfully.
  • Knowledgeable in the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information System (NALCOMIS/OOMA).

  • Will have a working knowledge of and utilization of the Computerized Self Evaluation Checklist (CSEC) as an auditing and reporting tool.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting all reports, directives, publications, and manuals pertaining to assigned responsibilities.
  • Performing off-site related services and detachments when directed.
  • Working overtime, when required.
  • Complying and participating with the Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Program, when directed.
  • Operating standard office equipment such as telephones, typewriters, computer terminals, facsimile and duplicating equipment, and calculators.
  • Operating stationary and portable bar code readers.
  • Visually inspecting tools and equipment for wear or defects, and preparing written damage reports and disposal/turn-in documentation.
  • Designing, developing, documenting, and maintaining requisition logs and files, stock records and files, and work accomplished records.
  • Engraving, etching, tagging, or marking tools and equipment for accountability.
  • Writing item descriptions for a range of new items entering the supply channels of an agency or field operation.
  • Using common hand tools and equipment to package, handle, and transport equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Ensuring all applicable security measures are followed.
  • Adhering to the Tool Control Program.
  • Complying with established general and industrial safety rules and regulations, as applicable.
  • Performing other duties as assigned and directed by management.
  • Assisting with ordering parts, tools, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Assisting in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Cross-training into or assisting other specialties as directed by management.
  • Determining feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components using manufacturer’s manuals, service bulletins, and applicable publications.
  • Ensuring Quality Assurance inspections are complied with.
  • Maintaining and/or completing required records and applicable maintenance forms.
  • Maintaining appropriate records of all work accomplished.
  • Operating SE, flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.
  • Performing other tasks and assisting other specialties as directed by management.
  • Providing technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
  • Performing daily duties normally associated with this specialty.
  • Reading, interpreting, and applying instructions from blueprints, schematics, and other approved data.
  • Understanding basic supply procedures.
  • Working with and utilizing the Computerized Self Evaluation Checklist (CSEC) as an auditing and reporting tool.
  • Performing annual, semi-annual, and special audits utilizing the CSEC as directed by QA.
  • Complying with the Hazardous Waste Program and Company and facility Hazardous Material Programs.
  • Keeping shop area clean and participating in daily hangar cleanups.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the work center and around the assigned work area.
  • Practicing good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety as required.
  • Utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed/required.
