About the position

The Titles Production Trainer position at the Bureau of Motor Vehicle involves training and assisting staff in the Title Services Unit to ensure high standards of professional excellence. The role requires a focus on customer service, compliance with laws and regulations, and the ability to handle detailed, time-sensitive tasks. The trainer will be responsible for evaluating trainee performance, reviewing training materials, and providing support to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs employees individually and/or in groups using various methods and techniques.
  • Evaluates trainee performance to suggest improvements.
  • Reviews training materials to verify compliance with applicable laws, rules, policy, procedures, and standard requirements.
  • Communicates with supervisor regarding an employee's training experience.
  • Opening mail, answering phone calls, reconciling revenue, and clerical work.
  • Organize, review, and maintain computer and manual files.
  • Operates office equipment (i.e., printers, photocopier, fax, validator, and phones).
  • Provides services to internal and external customers by phone, email, and in-person.
  • Performs various clerical duties within the unit.
  • Examines motor vehicle title applications and associated documents such as liens, chain of ownership, vehicle and odometer information, and signatures to determine vehicle ownership and compliance with applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Training experience highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the laws and practices related to the title and ownership of motor vehicle titles.
  • Knowledge of Maine Motor Vehicle Statute Title 29-A.
  • Knowledge of Bureau of Motor Vehicle computer systems, including online programs.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Telephone etiquette.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to engage and communicate with outside agencies and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to use independent judgment.
  • Ability to verify, code, compute, and/or reconcile data on standard documents.
  • Ability to recognize work quality issues.
  • Ability to make intermediate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to prepare standard letters.
  • Ability to complete detailed and accurate work assignments.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices.
  • Knowledge of query and research techniques.
