About the position

The Specialized Programs Teacher Assistant III at King, M.L. Elementary School is responsible for creating and implementing high-quality, standards-based instruction for students, particularly those with disabilities. This role involves developing lesson plans aligned with the Nevada Academic Content Standards and fostering a culturally responsive educational environment. The teacher will serve as the teacher of record for students with disabilities and will report directly to the school site administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Administer appropriate District curriculum, aligned with the NVACS.
  • Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive, culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment.
  • Develop and implement daily and long-range lesson plans using research-based strategies to meet the needs of all students, including at-risk students, students with IEPs, and ELL students.
  • Align lesson planning, instruction, reflection, and assessment practices to the NEPF.
  • Analyze student data and progress with a balanced assessment system to provide effective and targeted instruction and interventions.
  • Provide a classroom management plan ensuring safety at all times.
  • Ensure assessment regulations and guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Develop a culturally responsive classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
  • Collaborate effectively and professionally with administration, staff, parents/guardians, and the community.
  • Integrate the use of technology into the instructional program in accordance with the Nevada K-12 Integrated Technology Standards.
  • Implement scientifically based instruction, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), to support the unique needs of students.
  • Develop, implement, and act as teacher of record of IEPs for students with disabilities.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local mandates in special education.
  • Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans as needed.
  • Utilize positive behavioral supports as appropriate.
  • Ensure that students with disabilities are receiving a free appropriate education in the least restrictive environment (LRE).
  • Assist students with disabilities in regular education classrooms.
  • Participate in other job-related duties and activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Possession or ability to acquire a teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE).
  • Certification in relevant subject area.
  • A valid driver's license or state-issued identification card.
