About the position

The Tidal Restoration Coordinator will play a crucial role in enhancing the resilience of coastal habitats and communities in the Kennebec Estuary region, focusing on evaluating and improving tidal crossings vulnerable to climate change. This two-year grant-funded position involves technical mapping, community engagement, and fieldwork to assess and restore tidal wetland habitats.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and prioritize tidal crossings for restoration efforts.
• Communicate with community partners regarding restoration sites.
• Monitor priority structures, wetlands, and adjacent waters for restoration needs.
• Conduct ArcGIS mapping and data analysis related to tidal crossings.
• Develop non-technical outreach materials for community engagement.
• Perform fieldwork at tidal marsh sites, assessing structures, water levels, and wetland vegetation.

Requirements

• Experience using ESRI ArcGIS mapping software.
• Completion of college-level coursework or 2 years of relevant work experience in communication, wetland ecology, marine science, botany, biology, geology, hydrology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related fields.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to explain complex information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple projects effectively.
• Driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle.
