Therapeutic Teacher

About the position

The Marblehead Public Schools is seeking candidates for a Special Education Teacher for their Inclusion and Therapeutic Program, Grades 4-6. The special education teacher provides specialized instruction to students with disabilities based on targeted goals and benchmark objectives as outlined on a student's IEP. This position includes official case management of students with disabilities, but it is the expectation that the special educator will work collaboratively and proactively with colleagues to maximize progress for all students.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities based on IEP goals and objectives.
• Support students working on social/emotional and self-regulation goals.
• Provide academic support to students in both general education and special education contexts.
• Partner with core classroom teachers to support student learning.
• Implement research-based strategies or methods of reading instruction and literacy skills development.
• Manage cases for students with disabilities.

Requirements

• Experience supporting students with social/emotional and self-regulation goals.
• Experience in providing academic support to students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
• Experience with research-based reading instruction strategies.
