About The Position

As a Therapeutic Education Leader, you'll create healing learning environments by leading the Therapeutic Early Childhood Program for families and children experiencing trauma. You will collaborate with the Therapeutic Child and Family Resilience Specialist and Classroom Leaders, planning and implementing trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate curriculum. This role centers social-emotional learning in all classroom activities, routines, and learning experiences, ensuring comprehensive child development services including education, health, nutrition, and family support. You will build strong partnerships with parents, children, coworkers, consultants, and community partners, applying a systems/ecological lens to child, family, classroom, and site planning. You will also ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and accreditation criteria, while supporting high-risk families with comprehensive mental health and educational services. Requirements

  • Minimum Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor's in ECE, or Elementary Education with 18 ECE credits
  • DPI certification in ECE or related field preferred; Registry Level 14 or above within 90 days
  • Minimum 5 years in early care education setting with preschool teaching experience
  • Strong partnerships with low-income, high-risk, multicultural families
  • Knowledge of trauma effects and manifestations, trauma-sensitive approaches, infant and early childhood mental health principles, and anti-bias education
  • Expertise in social-emotional learning centered curriculum design and implementation, and systems/ecological planning lens
  • Independent work capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, patience
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Hmong preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with adequate insurance

Nice To Haves

  • DPI certification in ECE or related field
  • Registry Level 14 or above within 90 days
