About the position

The Territory Sales Manager at Mercury Hampton Ltd is responsible for driving sales of complex engineering and scientific training equipment within the education sector across a designated territory. This role involves developing new business relationships, managing key accounts, and leveraging technical knowledge to sell innovative solutions to universities and research institutions. The position is home-based, requiring extensive travel to meet with clients and prospects in Texas and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new business development and sales of engineering solutions in the education sector.
  • Manage and develop relationships with key accounts, including universities and research institutions.
  • Conduct regular customer visits throughout the sales region to present products and close sales.
  • Collaborate with internal engineers to provide technical support during the sales process.
  • Forecast sales accurately and manage the sales pipeline effectively.
  • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in external technical sales, particularly in complex engineering solutions.
  • Experience selling to educational institutions, including universities and research facilities.
  • Strong understanding of university buying procedures and market nuances.
  • Sales management experience or senior business development experience is preferred.
  • Ability to accurately forecast sales and manage budgets.
  • Engineering or Science degree or equivalent experience is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with various stakeholders at different levels.
