About the position

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology is seeking an open rank tenure-track faculty member specializing in ALS and motor neuron disorders. The role emphasizes significant contributions to research and the development of treatments, with a focus on translational research efforts. The appointee will have substantial protected time for research and will engage in teaching and mentoring at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a translational research effort in ALS and motor neuron disorders.
  • Collaborate with existing programs in the Biological Sciences Division and the University.
  • Teach at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
  • Mentor trainees in the department.
  • Contribute to the development of treatments and potential cures for ALS.

Requirements

  • Medical doctorate or equivalent, or PhD in a related field.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, if applicable.
  • Board certified or eligible in Neurology, if applicable.
