About the position

Under general supervision, the Tennis Pro Shop Supervisor will greet and assist guests of the Jekyll Island Tennis Center. Responsibilities include; providing exceptional customer service, operating point-of-sale system, scheduling court times, pro-shop sales, inventory control, and maintaining accurate accounting records. Performs day-to-day operations including operating point-of-sale system, prepares daily deposit and revenue reports. Ensures all shop accounting reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner. Ensures guest satisfaction through friendly and helpful interactions with customers; establishes rapport and resolves customers inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner. Assists with managing and motivating team to increase sales, provides training and direction. Identifies merchandise trends, orders merchandise according to needs and budget, ensures availability of pro-shop merchandise by replenishing store stock levels as needed and merchandise displays. Assists in inventory counts, identifies shortages or surpluses and reports all discrepancies to the Director and/or Sr. Director of Amenities. Collaborates with Retail Operations Manager and Director of Retail for. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the Pro Shop. Assists with employee scheduling based on operational needs of the store. Performs tasks related to administration and distribution of tennis signup genius. Responsible for ensuring proper PCI compliance as required by credit card regulations. Responsible for maintaining proper cash controls in the pro shop. Promotes Tennis Center services and facilities as well as other Jekyll Island Authority amenities such as Sea Turtle Center, Mini Golf, Bike Rental, Golf, Summer Waves, etc. Enforces program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years retail/customer service experience required.
  • Team lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in merchandise ordering and inventory control is a plus.
  • Knowledge of tennis and tournaments is a plus.
  • Must be outgoing, personable, and friendly.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information.
  • Proficient in general PC skills, including word-processing and spreadsheet applications (Word and Excel preference).
  • Flexible schedule required including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
