About the position
The afterschool program for MuncieP3 students at Longfellow Elementary School aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for children to engage in various activities after school hours. The program focuses on building positive relationships with students, offering motivational support, and ensuring their safety and supervision at all times. Staff members will be responsible for creating an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of the students while fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Responsibilities
- Develop positive relationships with children
- Provide motivational support and guidance to students
- Ensure safety and supervision of children at all times
- Create and implement engaging activities and curriculum for students
- Monitor student behavior and provide appropriate interventions when necessary
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and program activities
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to enhance program offerings
Requirements
- Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive environment for all students
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Nice-to-haves
- Background in education, social work, or a related field
- Experience in afterschool programming or youth development
- Skills in conflict resolution and behavior management
