About the position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist for its Counseling Services department. This temporary, part-time position is essential for providing front office support and ensuring a welcoming environment for clients and campus members. The primary responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling walk-ins, and performing various administrative tasks to support the clinical staff. The role requires maintaining cleanliness in session and waiting rooms, scanning documents into the database, typing, copying, filing, shredding, and running errands on campus. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently at the front desk while also being able to manage potentially stressful situations with professionalism and efficiency. In this role, excellent customer service is paramount. The receptionist will greet clients and other campus members upon arrival, assist with scheduling or rescheduling appointments, and perform routine administrative tasks to support the clinical staff. This includes escorting clients to session rooms for virtual sessions and following cleaning protocols after each use of the session or waiting room. The position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple assignments, and proficiency in using Microsoft programs. Teamwork is essential, and adherence to confidentiality guidelines is strictly enforced, with the expectation that the employee will sign a Confidentiality Agreement. The position does not allow for remote work and is located at the front desk of Counseling Services, with a varied schedule not exceeding 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to everyone who communicates with our office.
  • Greet clients and other campus members upon arrival.
  • Answer phone calls and assist clients with scheduling or rescheduling appointments.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks to support clinical staff.
  • Assist clinical staff with day-to-day duties such as faxing and making copies.
  • Escort clients to session rooms for virtual sessions.
  • Follow cleaning protocols after a client's use of a session room or waiting room area.
  • Maintain cleanliness in session and waiting rooms.
  • Scan documents into the database and perform data entry into the computer scheduling program.

Requirements
