About the position

The University of New Mexico Los Alamos is seeking Temporary Part-Time faculty to teach American Studies courses at the 1000 or 2000 level. This role involves teaching online and/or face-to-face classes, with positions contingent upon student enrollment and course offerings each semester. The faculty will be responsible for all aspects of course delivery, including content delivery, assignment development, grading, and assessment of student learning. Strong preference is given to candidates residing in New Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Teach American Studies courses at the 1000 or 2000 level, either online or face-to-face.
• Develop course content and assignments as per the curriculum requirements.
• Grade assignments and report grades in a timely manner.
• Assess student learning outcomes as outlined by the Program Coordinator.
• Meet with students during assigned class times.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in American Studies or a related field, or a master's degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in American Studies.
• Successful completion of Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
• Experience in online teaching.
• Terminal degree in the discipline (Ph.D., MFA, etc.).
• Residence in New Mexico.
