About the position

The Teller position at Popular is focused on accurately processing banking transactions while delivering exceptional customer service. The role emphasizes understanding clients' needs and ensuring a positive experience, contributing to the overall satisfaction and loyalty of customers. Tellers are expected to adhere to policies and regulations while also engaging in sales activities to promote banking products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively execute teller banking transactions in accordance with Popular's policies and procedures.
  • Process payment and receipt of transactions for all product types and services accurately and courteously.
  • Reference the client by name in all transactions to provide personalized service.
  • Maintain minimum cash levels in the teller's area and ensure cash security according to policies.
  • Re-stock and balance assigned cash drawer, ATM(s), cash recycler(s), and vault(s) as required.
  • Assist in processing night depository bags and currency, and ATM settlements as required.
  • Act in accordance with all bank policies and regulations to ensure compliance during assessments and audits.
  • Work with branch manager and supervisor to attain or exceed individual sales goals.
  • Build effective, trust-based relationships with clients by listening and uncovering their needs.
  • Support marketing campaigns and product launches, modifying sales techniques as necessary.
  • Educate clients on self-service capabilities and encourage the use of digital banking options.
  • Interact with management to stay updated on new developments and initiatives in the bank.
  • Promote an environment of ongoing customer feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Respond to customer requests to update or close accounts, determining reasons for dissatisfaction.
  • Listen attentively to customers to address questions or problems and proactively resolve issues.
  • Support compliance functions including reconciliations, audits, and reporting.
  • Promote the branch's involvement in the community and report CRA-related activities to supervisors.
  • Identify fraudulent or forged documentation and report such activity.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to bank policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Anticipation of continuing education towards a degree.
  • Six months of cash handling and/or retail sales experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $22.50 depending on qualifications and experience.
