About the position

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is seeking a dedicated individual to provide customer-centric delivery of IT services as part of the UTS Desktop Support Services team. This position is a tier I support role responsible for hardware and software support, troubleshooting, and optimizing digital computing and communications equipment. The role involves providing in-person, on-site, walkup, and remote assistance to meet the dynamic support requirements of faculty, staff, and students. The successful candidate will represent UTS in all customer service interactions, ensuring timely break-fix and service request fulfillment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support and knowledge in the operation, troubleshooting, and general function of faculty, staff and student computing technologies.
  • Functions as a tier-one member of the Client Experience Services team, providing technical customer support in person and via remote channels.
  • Responsible for workstation imaging, data backup, and operating system recovery.
  • Provides training and support of software packages to staff, faculty, and management.
  • Provides escalation support, guidance, and training to part-time student workers.
  • Creates, reviews and updates knowledge articles, internal workflow documentation, and end user instruction.
  • Administers network and active directory accounts and permissions.
  • Administers specific UTS supported applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduation or GED.
  • One (1) year of experience relating to network communication/computer system hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to users.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in computing technology-related field.
  • Certification from one of the following: Microsoft/Apple/CompTIA/ITIL.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $43,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
  • 40 hours per week, non-exempt.
