About The Position

Under general supervision, teaches one or more classes in the field to students in grades 6 through 12, assists in other school programs as assigned, and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student’s ability. Teaches how technology systems interact with our world related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics concepts (robotics, infrastructures, etc.). Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

  • Skilled in assessment and using its data for teaching and learning.
  • Understanding the growth and development of assigned students.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Technology Education or Engineering from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Must hold North Carolina Teacher License (00820) or be eligible for licensure.
  • Strong background in engineering, construction management, graphics design, network technology, or industrial design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Experience with Smartboard© and other forms of technology.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction and providing instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
  • Develops instructional plans and organize a class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.
  • Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive studio environment.
  • Instruct students in proper care and use of materials and equipment storage areas and control the use of materials and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
  • Evaluates each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepare progress reports.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
  • Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
  • Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
