About the position
The Technician Sterile Processing II performs disinfection and sterilization of supplies, instruments, and equipment. This role involves cleaning, wrapping, sterilizing, storing, and distributing equipment, supplies, instruments, and endoscopes used in patient care. The technician is responsible for providing orientation and training to staff, utilizing advanced knowledge and skills to facilitate daily functions in accordance with policy and procedure. Additionally, the technician is tasked with restocking and maintaining inventory control.
Responsibilities
- Perform disinfection and sterilization of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Clean, wrap, sterilize, and distribute equipment, supplies, and instruments used in patient care.
- Perform sterilization and air removal tests prior to first usage of the sterilizer.
- Clean autoclaves and complete all documentation records.
- Inspect instruments for visual damage and perform decontamination.
- Operate washer/disinfector and assemble packs, procedure trays, and carts.
- Follow procedures for content identification of each pack and wrap instrumentation properly.
- Restock crash carts and perform ordering functions to maintain adequate inventory.
- Communicate back orders and other important supply issues accordingly.
- Maintain record of outgoing supplies for charge purposes and inventory control.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge and skills in sterilization processes.
- Ability to work effectively with others and demonstrate teamwork.
- Competence with steam and gas sterilizers.
- Proficiency with computer programs for documentation and inventory management.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in sterile processing.
- Knowledge of inventory control processes and supply chain management.
