About the position

The Mechanical Technician at Phillips 66 is responsible for performing preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks on production and facilities equipment. This role involves troubleshooting issues, repairing equipment failures, and ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness of machinery. The technician will work in compliance with company standards and regulatory guidelines, contributing to the safe and effective operation of maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on engines, compressors, and associated components.
  • Overhaul compressors and engines, including foundation work, initial alignment, testing, and startup.
  • Ensure safe, effective, and efficient performance of maintenance and operation activities in accordance with company standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Perform work on air pollution control equipment.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on various types of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Identify maintenance work and initiate work requests.
  • Drive a company-owned vehicle within assigned area.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems.
  • Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control over 3rd Party contractors performing major maintenance.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must live/relocate within 45 miles of reporting location.
  • Willing and able to work a rotating call-out schedule.
  • Willing and able to maintain all required operations and safety training including required Operator Qualifications for DOT covered tasks.
  • Ability to climb various ladders and stairs ranging 5 to 20 feet in height on platforms and catwalks.
  • Ability to raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally exert pulling force of 130 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material daily on even and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work outside in harsh weather conditions.
  • Ability to work alone a high percentage of the time.
  • Willingness to work scheduled or unscheduled overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Wear fire-retardant clothing and other personal protective equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 or more years maintenance/mechanical experience in oil and gas or related industry.
  • 3 or more years direct experience with reading schematics, manuals, and drawings.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, and available maintenance programs.
  • A sound knowledge of code requirements, including OSHA, Process Safety.
