About the position

The Technical Writer is responsible for providing support to engineers in producing and managing technical documentation for commercial nuclear reactor projects. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts, ensuring compliance with documentation standards, and managing document reviews and approvals. The position requires strong writing skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical writing support for new and existing documentation.
  • Ensure project deliverables are executed on time with high quality and within budget.
  • Develop quality and user-friendly formats and templates for publications.
  • Edit and manage technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create and implement documentation.
  • Prioritize and complete multiple activities while meeting deadlines.
  • Collect, analyze, and compile information for documentation purposes.
  • Manage review and approval processes for documents, including comment resolution.
  • Create and maintain websites, libraries, and storage repositories as assigned.
  • Process engineering changes through data management systems.
  • Update project schedules regularly and perform requirements traceability.
  • Support input into the Product Lifecycle Management System and Nuclear Collaboration System.
  • Perform records management functions and maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Conduct training for other staff members on configuration management functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or an Associate's degree with relevant experience.
  • 1-2 years experience in word processing, presentation packages, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • 1-2 years technical writing experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; familiarity with Adobe software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in technical writing within a nuclear business environment or quality assurance.
  • Experience developing new content from various resources.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic document publication and printing.
  • Experience with configuration management protocols in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with US NRC Regulatory Guides and system/software standards.
