About the position
SunSource and its family of companies represent 200+ locations and 3,000+ employees making up one of North America's leading value-add industrial distribution companies. We provide customers with products and solutions within Fluid Power, Fluid Process, Fluid Conveyance, General Industrial Components, and Industrial Service & Repair. This position will be responsible for working with Account Managers, Customers, Hydraulic Systems Group members and all SunSource Joining Forces Companies to help bring them to a higher level in application design solutions. The system design, component selection and application safety are critical elements associated with the Technical Specialist position. The Technical Specialist will be directly involved in the Layout and application schematic required to support the demand. This person will also have the responsibility of making sure all critical notes are included in the submission and drawings such as: Dimensions, System Pressures, Paint and Tubing size, etc. This position will also be responsible for updating the Final Estimation Package for their System before submission and processing.
Responsibilities
- Work with Account Managers, Customers, and Hydraulic Systems Group members to enhance application design solutions.
- Involved in the layout and application schematic to support demand.
- Ensure all critical notes are included in submissions and drawings.
- Update the Final Estimation Package for the system before submission and processing.
- Create and detail fabrication estimation packages including components and labor attributes.
- Generate formal customer quotations.
- Conduct face-to-face customer sales calls and presentations.
- Provide customer training on industrial hydraulic systems.
- Manage and follow a formal engineering process associated with defined best practices.
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of industrial hydraulics and associated applications.
- Ability to read, review and understand schematic drawings (Hydraulic / Electrical).
- Experience in generating formal customer quotations.
- Experience in face-to-face customer sales calls and industrial hydraulic systems application presentations.
- Final documentation and project closure experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial hydraulics education.
Nice-to-haves
- Fluid Power Certification requested but not required.
- Mechanical design basics (fabrication and layout) knowledge.
