About the position

Reporting to the Director Environmental Management as the Technical Safety Manager you'll provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to lead the development, implementation, compliance and sustainability of a robust Process Safety Management (PSM) program across Conagra Brands' internal manufacturing sites. You will focus on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while encouraging a culture of safety excellence in utilities and services areas, including ammonia systems, power, natural/LP gas, dust management, boilers, pressure vessels, and other critical systems. You'll serve as the liaison between the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Engineering and Manufacturing teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and deployment of a progressive, multi-year PSM program aligned with the EHS strategy and industry's best practices.
  • Design and implement frameworks using the EHS strategy board and CPS tools for utilities and services safety programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert, working with corporate and plant locations to ensure open findings from audits are completed in full and on time.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive implementation of daily management systems and statistical process controls to measure and monitor the effectiveness of safety programs.
  • Develop and implement risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Oversee the enhancement of ammonia process safety programs, focusing on regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119, EPA RAGAGEP, RMP) and industry best practices.
  • Develop and align projects focusing on the safety of power, natural gas, dust management, boilers, and pressure vessels and other critical process systems highlighted in the EHS strategy.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify improvement opportunities and prioritize actions across the network through the compliance calls.
  • Implement training, maintenance, and emergency response systems to manage risks associated with ammonia operations.
  • Member and participation with external agencies, technical groups like IIAR and other groups or regulatory entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in process safety management, with a focus on manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience managing ammonia refrigeration systems and related safety programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership in utilities and services safety, including electricity, gas, and pressure vessel safety.
  • Experience with PSM regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
  • Expertise in risk management methodologies and processing safety tools.
