About the position

The Technical Apps Support Analyst I provides essential technical and functional support for specialized department applications and databases. This role involves developing queries and reports, diagnosing and resolving technology-related issues, and ensuring the health and performance of department applications and databases. The analyst collaborates with end users, IT staff, and vendors to maintain system continuity and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, resolves, and documents application, database, and technology-related problems in a timely manner.
  • Identifies requirements and system solutions, providing end-users with issue resolution daily.
  • Provides first-level application issue resolution and training to end users.
  • Maintains the health of department applications and databases by monitoring performance issues and maintenance.
  • Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify system objectives.
  • Collaborates with IT staff to meet objectives and adhere to business requirements.
  • Coordinates vendor upgrades with department management and IT groups.
  • Applies system upgrades and patches, maintaining program customization details.
  • Facilitates processes to ensure system continuity.
  • Coordinates and performs installation of new computer hardware and software.
  • Sponsors vendor VPN and CJIS clearance requests with Dallas County Service Desk.
  • Provides vendors with remote access issue resolution and maintains active vendor accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in an Information Technology environment with multiple subsystems.
  • Two years of application database support or server support in SQL.
  • Knowledge of SQL relational databases and client-server concepts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior application support in County Elections, Forensic Pathology, Health and Human Services, County Juvenile, or Law Enforcement.
  • Experience with specific technology software related to the specialized department.
